Grads in Games Stage 1 Entry - Animation/ VFX - Alex McCunn

My process on this project was to take an existing model and import it into a game engine with custom animations and be a playable, controllable character that still has their personality reflected in their movements by their designs. I selected several game rigs that already existed online that had great detail and the potential in them for my personal and educational use.

After discovering the Vi model from League of Legends and the ARTv1 rig creation tool on the Unreal Marketplace, I endeavoured to give life to the character using the tools I had located. While that process required precise weight mapping to work as intended, it became apparent that I could generate a rag doll type rig and model instead with similar proportions ready to export and star animating.

Once I was satisfied with my characters, I created the minimum standard of sequences and blend shapes you would expect from a playable character in a video game: idle, walk, jog, run, jump and attack.
